Nanette Lepore Pre-Fall 2013

These are a couple of our favorite new pieces from Nanette Lepore's Pre-Fall 2013 collection; the designer was inspired by the bright colors and kaleidoscopic playfulness of Marc Chagall's circus paintings. These new pieces are heavy on bold patterns and whimsical touches, but they also manage to be very wearable. Lepore believes that pre-fall collections are "the new resort": rather than being strictly seasonal, designers are using these collections as vehicles for pieces with year-round appeal. 

Take the snake-printed, playfully full-skirted "Trapeze Girl" dress above (a refreshingly different animal print option) for example: we'd wear it now with flat sandals from Sam Edelman or Rachel Zoe. When the weather finally cools, it'll look great under a boxy knit cardigan or a biker-style jacket with tights and booties.

Some things just have to be appreciated up close, like this ring from Alexis Bittar. We love the color, the mixture of elements, and the way it reminds us of a vintage piece, but also feels very modern. See it for yourself in the Accessories Shop on the first floor. 

Sneak Peek: Fall 2013 Photo Shoot

This is an image from our most recent photo shoot, featuring looks for fall 2013. It was shot by Nathan Presley in the historic Midco Building in downtown Tulsa. The shoot was inspired by portraits of different female artists at the beginning of their careers: vibrant and creative young women like Helen Frankenthaler, Eva Hesse, Lee Bonticou, and others.

The designer of this suit, Yoana Baraschi, will be making a personal appearance at the store for our annual fall opening event on August 1 and 2. Yoana was trained as a sculptor and worked as an illustrator early in her career, and her background in the arts has a significant influence on her eponymous collection.

We'll be posting much more about Yoana and our fall opening event - and more gorgeous images from this shoot - in the days and weeks to come, so check back soon!
